Belfast to Londonderry

Time to move on again. Nothing much to see on the road from Belfast to Londonderry, which in some ways was nice as we could just meander and get to our accommodation 3 hours earlier than we normally do.

First off though a stop at Belfast Castle, up on a hill with great views of the city.

Bit of a cat fetish here though.

It has happened several times, we plan place to stop and they are not that interesting in the end, and then you stumble across something good on the way. We drove through the town of Randalstown, it had a viewing point to see two stone bridges (road and rail viaduct) that look like one from the viewpoint.

The usual nice buildings (note the beige one on the left in the first pic has the windows painted on including curtains!)

My fixation with mail and phone boxes continues. They are just SO photogenic.

And finally a really pretty lacecap hydrangea.

Our accommodation in Londonderry is a 2-storey old terrace in a row, they've started fixing it up but it's not fabulous. Win some/lose some - the Belfast place was amazing. The advantage here is that it's only a few minutes walk to the city walls, you don't want to be driving around in some of these old towns!
